Writing Challenges

It’s plain to see, but, I haven’t been doing very well with writing. I believe it’s because I have too high standards on myself. It needs to be this good text, nice edited pictures and triple checked for spelling and grammar mistakes. High standards are good to have, but at this point, it’s keeping me from writing. I am also yet to have worked out a good writing habit or routine. To work out how and where to write on the days that we do a lot of traveling and sight seeing. And the days we are at a campsite without electricity, how do I work around that?

The thing is, I have for the longest time considered myself as someone who writes. I write a lot at times. Just very rarely for other people to see. And that is something I wanted to change with this blog. I want to share more.

So. To deal with my writing challenges, I am going to challenge my writing habits. And my writing skills. For the rest of this year, each month will contain a writing challenge! Some of them are bigger challenges already existing in the world, some I will create personally for myself. And here’s a brief introduction to them;

September;
To get back to what this blog was really about, sharing our adventure, for the whole of September, we’ll publish a post every day! Note that I won’t write everyday. I have a few drafts, that at this moment, are doing nothing else but to sit and wait to be published. Sure, they need a picture here, and a rephrasing there, but they are basically ready. So I’ll make sure they get out, as well as write a lot of new posts. And by telling you guys, it’s my way of creating accountability. Because otherwise I’d just skip out on it. Again and again.

October;
Preptober! This is all about preparing in the best kind of ways for NaNoWriMo! (Check out next month and end confusion). Internet is full of different prompts and schedules for preptober, I haven’t chosen one for sure yet, but I’ll let you guys know when the time comes. This is a challenge will be more for myself, than what I will be sharing with the world. However, after having a month of writing constantly for the blog, I’m confident I’ll be able to put on a more regular posting schedule for the blog.

November;
NaNoWriMo – National Novel Writing Month! Basically an online project where anyone who wants to write a novel is challenged to write 50 000 words first draft in 30 days! I learned about this last year I believe, and I decided that I wanted to try it out this year! Not sure where we’ll be, but I’m definitely ready to take the challenge of writing a novel! December;
Here I’m not entirely sure how the challenge will look, I have two options. One is that I write a Christmas card or a letter every day of the month. The other one would be that I use a little time of every day of the first half to look at what I’ve done and learned during 2019 and the second half to planning and dreaming for 2020. December feels so far away still, so I’m not sure yet what will fit better, but there’s time to decide on a final challenge once getting closer.

I made this decision only a few days ago. I hope that you will stick with me for my September challenge and keeping me accountable! Let’s do this!
