Sleepless high above

Recently we have had a few travel days planned in and the idea is that “we have the chance to sleep then”. I’m usually sleep ok during flights, to Petri’s annoyance. So we had planned a night flight from Bali to Melbourne, starting at 21.00, and being about 6 hours long. Arriving rested and ready to take on Australia at 6 am. At least that’s the theory.

On our way to our gate, we filled up our water bottle. Down at the gate they had a “second security check” with the purpose of confiscating people’s water (in order to sell water on the flight). Not appreciated! Especially not when the only payment option for it was Malaysian Ringgit, and no card accepted!

Once on the flight, we did have the dinner included in our ticket, and got water with the food. On the recommendation of Petri I started watching “The maze runner”. As it’s a more intense movie, I never developed any sleepiness. And then I watched “The Reverent”. After this we had arrived in Melbourne and I had gotten zero minutes of sleep. Petri got maybe around 30 minutes total.

Let’s say this isn’t the best when planning for an intense road trip with friends. But luckily we have been able to sleep in the car. 🙂

But, to end this post, we can’t recommend Malindo Air. Petri got his luggage lost on our way to Bali by Malindo Air, and got it 74h later. And then the return with not getting to bring “outside” water onboard, just to then sell water and not accepting card. Two (three) of our biggest reasons we’ll do our best to avoid Malindo Air in the future. We hope you do the same.
