I’ve always said that movember challenge is for men that always wanted moustaches but are too scared to grow one without an excuse!
However I think movember campaign is the best excuse you can think of, if you need more reasons than “I want to sport my own facial hair that is under my knose and above my mouth”. Some people might even want to show of how quickly they can grow their “snotstoppers”
I found myself looking for an excuse to change my stache style a bit, as the past 10+ years the moustache has been the only part of my facial hair that has gotten regular contact with any sharp objects.
During vanlife trimming my hair and my face has been very sporadic. Past months many times I have noticed that the hairs on my upper lip have become more of a nuisance than usual, so I’m not very emotionally attached to the stache. However if you cut my beard I will be sad, but I will slowly kill you!
So with this mindset I notice that the new Zealand movember campaign has added causes to the original testicular cancer case and now they support also prostatic cancer and my personal favorite men’s mental health.
To support this topic I hopped on the bandwagon and decided to playfully shave my moustache and post progress reports on how slowly it actually grows back. This is also to encourage those countless guys that have claimed to me that they wouldn’t be able to grow the facial hair I have. It took me several years to grow my beard and during the first ones most of my relatives were saying that I shouldn’t bother!
Men’s mental health!
This topic is close to my heart, as growing up I had my share of problems and because I didn’t have a healthy way to channel my anxiety I got into a lot of trouble and made some really stupid choices that I regret to this day.
Few years ago I experienced another side of mental healt issues, this time as an adult. I wound up pushing myself to the brink of exhaustion by volunteering. What a silly concept of getting burnout from a volunteering position. Naturally this was just the tip of the iceberg and the underlying issues were financial instability, and doubts of incombatability in my chosen vocation.
This is just stuff that I gave gathered on my own later on because I am a strong man, and I deal with my own shit! This is how i am like most of my fellow fellows are culturally brought up. This also causes men to have signicantly higher suicide rates than women and it even partly explains the statistic where women live longer than men.
This is not how the world should work, is it? We should teach ourselves to be caring and talk about their problems and ask help when in need! Naturally this is very much against the Finnish mentality in general, as we’re the nation of SISU and Perkele. What’s there is to talk about?
So enough talking heavy topics! here’s before and after pictures of my shaven moustachio.
