First time washing the dreads

It was quite a task, and one that I was putting of for until the early afternoon before I finally got myself into the shower.

When the water first ran through my scalp, it was such a nice feeling. But it quickly became a confusing feeling. Because when the scalp gets wet, that means the hair should be wet too, and that should lay itself heavily along the head and back. But it didn’t. The water washed through the scalp, but the dreads kept on doing what they seem to prefer the most – take distance form the scalp!😂

Since my poor scalp has had to stand 3 weeks of no wash, I tried to focus my shampooing to the scalp. This was easier said than done. The old techniques simply didn’t work! Fingers getting caught in dreads everywhere. 😂

I’m not sure if I’m “allowed to” shampoo twice, but I just felt that especially the scalp, but also the dreads, barely gotten washed the first time around, so I did it again. My scalp is grateful for it at least. 😂 I’ve watched youtube videos on the washing of the dreads, but it will for sure take a while how to figure out the best way to get it clean.

Once washed, it was time to dry. I’ve heard using a microfiber towel is a good idea as it absorbs moisture well. That’s easier said than done though, and after a while I got out on the balcony and let the sun, heat and wind do it’s thing.

Afterwards, there’s the clear difference that it wants to stay more down now. I look less like a mad scientist, which is only good! I’m looking forward to more frequent hair washes and seeing how my dreads continue to develop.
