Electrical Warrant of Fitness

If you have a campervan that can connect to a camping grounds electrical network, you also need a electrical warrant of fitness, or EWoF for short. This ensures that your fuses are working and your safe to connect. Otherwise you can hurt the camp grounds network.

Our van’s EWoF was valid until 6.10.2019. And we weren’t really sure if we’d renew it before selling or not. But a week ago, we started calling different places to try to get someone to do it. And they all booked out for 3 weeks ahead!

Luckily, Petri found a place in Hamilton, which we on Friday called, and they had a time for Tuesday afternoon at 3 PM. They could have come to us, probably within a reasonable distance and for a fee. Or we could come to them. We decided to go to them.

We ended up arriving a bit early, basically at 2.30. The guy was available already then, so we parked next to his car where he had his tools. He checked the flow of electricity from our connection cord to our outlets in the van. Then he did a stress test for our two outlets, by connecting the van to power and then connecting a small device to the outlets. It stressed the system and the main switch went off, just as it’s supposed to.

And that was it for the test, then came the small paperwork, us getting a new sticker and a paper proof of our current EWoF being valid until 10.9.2023. We paid 150$NZ for work+GST. We drove away from the company just before 3! Super fast and smooth! Sweet As!
